I’ve been wrenching on cars since my high school days when I worked in gas stations (‘74-‘77). My buddies and I got good at pulling engines and transmissions to constantly increase their performance. Since then I’ve had to take my 1969 Shelby GT500 (owned since 1978) into several shops for expertise above my shade tree mechanic skills. I’ve had some good experiences with specialty shops but also some very bad ones. I’ve also learned that we must pay a fair amount for this expertise. San Ramon Valley Import Center came very highly recommended to me by a high performance parts manufacturer. I waited patiently for my turn to get to Rob, the owner. In my opinion, Rob is the best “surgeon” I’ve ever experienced in over 50 years of hot rodding. After the suspension work was completed by Rob, I got to drive my car home (yesterday July 4th). I must share with you as an SCCA judge and SEMA attendee that my Shelby drove better than showroom new. I’ve owned the car for nearly 50 years and could not believe how it drives and runs. This fellow and his team are few and far between. I cannot recommend them more highly. If you are looking for the lowest price for a repair then look elsewhere. If you’re looking for surgical expertise and vast knowledge gained from his personal race track testing experience, then contact this company. You won’t be disappointed.

Got a groundhog stuck in my truck and it was there for a couple of days no shops or fish and wildlife places would help me remove the groundhog from my truck. These guys were excited to help and did a fabulous job would take all of my vehicles to them anytime. Would recommend the shop for anything

Don't come here if you have an older vehicle. They either use cheap parts, employ incompetent mechanics, or most likely the combination between the two. 2 years ago I brought my truck in to get some OEM parts replaced including the water pump. However, after moving out of state and getting my brake pads replaced at another shop, this shop noticed and provided photos there was a small noticeable leak coming from the water pump. 2 years and not even 25k miles into it since the service and it's already a problem. I keep all of my receipts on file, and I forwarded to the manager at this shop the invoice on the day I brought it in to them, and the most recent invoice and photos from the mechanic that did my brakes to prove they installed the part and how little mileage I've put into it, but more importantly I was seeing what they can do to compensate for this since it's not completely unheard of for a shop to cover just for the replacement on the part that failed prematurely that they provided, but I haven't heard from the owner in over a week. Complete Con Artists. Edit: To the manager’s response, maybe don’t use cheap parts or choose to become unresponsive when I send you all of the information after warning you what serious harm this has caused to my vehicle and my wallet, and how I was prepared to go public with this not with the main intention of harming your business, but to bring awareness to other car owners about your lack of ethical business practice and how you can harm your vehicle and money like what you did to me.

Hi Christian, Con artists? Really? It's hard to respond when people send email threats like "pay to fix this or I'll post a bad review" as you did. The rest of the story for others who may be reading this: We completed the work on Christian's 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 in January 2024, and he reported the issue in June 2026. Our parts and labor warranty is clearly stated as 25 months or 25,000 miles with warranty work to be done in our shop. At management discretion, we may warranty work outside of that window and we offered to do so during regular business hours.

I have been to Valley Import Center twice now. Both times I went there because both the Lexus dealer, and the Toyota dealer were simply outrageous with their pricing models. Rob and Ethan are simply great. Very professional, knowledgeable, honest, and priced fairly... AND they do fantastic work! You can tell a great deal by how clean and orderly a repair shop is. At Valley Import Center, you can eat off the floors! And this is a super busy shop with 30 plus cars in line waiting to be serviced. Having been a senior manager most of my life, it's easy to see why these guys are rated so high. I almost always go to the dealer to have my cars serviced, even the ones that are out of warranty. I think I am going to go to Valley Import Center from now on. I am very particular about my cars... and I really like these guys. You will too!
